Steamboat at Goh Huat Seng Restaurant 吴发成菜馆, Lebuh Kimberly, Penang

Goh Huat Seng Steamboat is no stranger for Penangite, especially the generation of my parents. With the history of 50 years, so much have changed around the heritage area in Penang. At Goh Huat Seng, you will still find their Teochew steamboat in the traditional way, using charcoal to keep the soup simmering. Besides, the hot pot they used are very traditional, having a super long chimney at the center of the pot. The is to direct the heat from the burning charcoal away from you.

Now, how we order? It depends on how many plates you want, calling for 2 plates in minimum. We are big eaters, thus we called for 9 plates while there are only 7 of us. For your record, vegetables and noddles have to be ordered separately. Their soup is the key that makes their steamboat so toothsome. We enjoyed the moments where friends round the pot and enjoy the scrumptious steamboat, but still we does not find the food filling in the end.
Tips: Order for noodle to have a filling dinner.

Remarks: Price here captured before GST implemented

Updated Sept 4th, 2018: Goh Huat Seng has ceased operation.

Our total damage is RM 168.40, including Chinese Tea, Groundnuts and Napkin.

Their own-made special mini fan to speed up the charcoal burning.
