Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Soup 正斗粥面专家 @ Gurney Paragon, Penang

The wantun noodle expert originating from Hong Kong, has expanded their outlet to Malaysia. It is first in Southeast Asia and they choose Penang, at Level 5 of Gurney Paragon. The one star Michelin restaurant already has nine outlets in Hong Kong and China. When we enter the restaurant, we were delighted that they are decorating their restaurant with cyan as their theme color. Very young and modern looking interior. Tables were arranged with great space in between, making it looks very spacious. During our visit last month, their menu was just a few pieces of laminated white paper and we find it a little difficult to read through the menu they offered. Some typo were noticeable. Probably they were just having soft launched. When you try out their dishes, make sure you don't compare the food with the local.

Very unique appetizer which cost us for RM 5. It tasted quite good.

Egg Custard Bun with Running Sauce Filling (RM 9.80) was very soft at the skin. The egg custard was very rich in flavor. Best to finish this when it is still hot so that you can savor the running spitting custard. Their dim sum choices was quite limited as they are focusing on congee and wantun noodle. However, the basic dim sum can be found in the menu.

Silky soft Assorted Meat Congee in Guangzhou Style (RM 15.80). The congee were a little bit salty, served with peanut, century egg and shredded ginger. For my practice, I would add a little of pepper to have bolder flavor.

House Specialty Wantun Noodles (RM 18.80) wasn't that appealing when it is served. We took out the hidden wantun to place on top of the noodle for photographing purposes. Despite they have room for improvement on the food presentation, their wantun noodle was scrumptious with the special sauce served separately. Adding a little bit of special black sauce to your noodle and enjoy it, you will find the noodle very flavorful. Extra marks given for their slim noodle. The wantun was reasonable in size with the mixture of minced pork and prawn as filing. Very well seasoned.

Pan Fried White Turnip Cake with Dried Scallop (RM 12.80), was very soft to our surprised. Unlike those you find at the local, usually it is crisp at the skin. We love they added diced Char Siew to create extra biting pleasure and flavor to the turnip cake.
